Summit Arcane
New Orleans, 1928. The storm is building. As the mortal inhabitants of the Big Easy struggle with Prohibition, the supernatural denizens of the region have their own troubles. The rise of new powers and the shifting fortunes of the established players have led to upheaval in the magical community. Many of the local factions have become enmeshed in a bloody web of shifting alliances and temporary cease-fires.
Tensions have been building for years. Wizard against monster, Vampire Court versus Vampire Court, and all manner of creatures taking advantage of the loose morals and shadow culture woven into the fabric of the Crescent City. Recently things have spilled over and even mortals have begun taking notice. In one high-profile incident, some members of the Red Court got into a shooting match with the forces of local crime boss Michael Rossi, and they didn’t come out on top.
If things keep going the way they have been, it will be all-out war in the streets, and nobody will be safe. The Summer Lady, Aurora, decided to take matters into her own hands, and over the last several weeks messages, emissaries, offers, demands, and concessions have been shuttling back and forth among the various parties. Over the strenuous objections of the Red Court, and despite the outrageous demands of the White Council, a tentative agreement has been reached.
Tonight, at the stroke of midnight, in Rossi’s club, Le Bat en Rouge, the treaty is set to be signed. All the omens and portents point to something major happening here tonight, but these things are difficult to interpret in the best of times. In order to protect themselves, the senior representatives of the signatories have made themselves scarce, leaving their trusted, and expendable, underlings to do the actual signing. A sealed threshold, a night club full of supernatural creatures, each with their own agendas, prejudices, and vendettas – what could possibly go wrong?
